The government of the Maldives has forbid bringing unskilled laborers from Bangladesh for one year.

In a press conference held by the Economic Minister Fayyaz Ali today, he said that the government has decided to set a quota for each country and the quota applies to unskilled laborers only. He said then the quota for Bangladesh has already been met and hence unskilled laborers from Bangladesh cannot be brought to Maldives for one year.

According to Economic ministry they have set a quota of 150,000 thousand for each country. However this quota does not restrict bringing professional of different fields from Bangladesh.

The minister said that they will check how this decision impacts the economy and if there is a negative impact, they will revise the decision.
