Maldives to break the free-diving world record

Maldives is set to attempt to break the free-diving world record as part of tourism day celebrations.

The record is currently held by Italy. In 2009, 280 people free dived in Verona of Italy.

According to Tourism Ministry, Maldives will attempt to break this record on 1st October. The event will be held in the lagoon of Bandos Island resort and officials from Guinness World Record will take part in the event. Maldives will try to break the record with 500 divers. 

Those interested in participating in the event should be at least 18 years, of good health, and the ability to dive 3 meters.
