Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdulla Shahid and State Counsellor and Minister of Foreign Affairs of China met with His Excellency Wang Yi, signed three Memorandum of Understanding between the Republic of Maldives and the People’s Republic of China during a ceremony held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China in Beijing.

The MoUs that were signed were “Memorandum of Understanding Between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Maldives on Strengthening Cooperation” and the “Memorandum of Understanding on Sports Cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Maldives and the Government of the People’s Republic of China” and the “Agreement on the Economic and Technical Cooperation between the Government of the People’s Republic of China and the Government of the Republic of Maldives”.

Minister Shahid stated that these MoUs aim to further strengthen the close bilateral ties that currently exist between China and Maldives.

The MoU on Cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Maldives will further enhance cooperation and coordination between the two countries on bilateral and multilateral issues, increase the exchange of views between the two ministries.
