Around 400 people homeless after last night’s fire

National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has stated that around 400 people are left homeless after last night’s fire. 

According to NDMA, they are assisting all those who were affected by the fire and have set up temporary shelters in Majeedhiyya School, Kalaafaanu School and Imaaduhdheen School. Aid is being distributed through these centers. 

Speaking to the press at Bandaara Koshi today, CEO of NDMA Hisan Hassan said that so far 443 has reported to the center and 13 families have been provided with temporary shelters now. 

In addition Hisan said that there are some foreigners in temporary shelters and their employers have provided shelters to 59 foreign workers. Furthermore Hisan said that some of those who became homeless are now living with relatives and they are monitoring their situation as well.
