Former MP of Thimarafushi constituency has reported Gulhifalhu land reclamation contract case to the Ant-Corruption Commission of the Maldives.

Last week the government contracted Boskalis to reclaim 160 hector land in Gulhifalhu to relocate the commercial port of Male’. 

Musthafa noted that the land reclamation work of Hulhumale second phase 240 hector land was completed for 52 million dollars while the reclamation work of Gulhufalhu 160 hector land was contracted for 54 million dollars. “As per my sources, some government officials got a kickback of 8 million dollars from this project alone” said Musthafa. 

Musthafa tweeted tagging EU Commission and foreign Minister Abdullah Shahid as well. 

Miadhu News has learned that the project was awarded to Boskalis even without contacting MTCC. MTCC has the capacity to reclaim a land area as large as Gulhifalhu.
