Parliament votes to appoint Mahaz to the Supreme Court

The parliament of the Maldives has today voted to appoint Mahaz Ali Zahir to the Supreme Court.

President Ibrahim Solih nominated former AG Dhiyana Saeed and Drug Court Judge Mahaz to be appointed to the vacant position at the Supreme Court. In a session held today 55 members voted in favor of appointing Mahaz. Hence, he will be appointed to the Supreme Court.

Earlier today the parliamentary group of ruling party MDP took a vote among the parliament members and decided to issue a three line whip to vote for Mahaz.
