Foreign Minister Abdullah Shahid has stated that China remains one of the top source countries for the Maldives tourism industry. The minister made this statement while speaking at the 3rd meeting of the Joint Meeting Mechanism to Deal with Issues of Safety of Chinese Tourists in Maldives. 

The minister stated that the high number of tourists from China not only shows the love and respect of Chinese tourists have for the Maldives, but also the strength of the bilateral relations between the two countries. 

In addition the minister said that the government of Maldives will ensure that the Maldives is a safe place for all tourists including Chinese tourists.
