Addu City Council has proposed to make an alliance among the 5 southern atolls in the Maldives.

Addu City Council proposed to make an association named Southern Regional Alliance in the ongoing councilors conference which is being held in Ga.Villingili. This conference is organized by ruling party MDP. 

According to Addu City Council the purpose of the association is to work together to achieve economic, social and cultural developmental goals. Councilors from Laamu, Ga, Gdh, Fuvahmulah and Addu are taking part in the conference. Former President Moahmmed Nasheed officially inaugurated the conference. 

This is the second conference of this series organized by ruling party MDP.
