Maldives Police Service has obstructed the rally organized by the opposition parties to mark the victory day.

Police arrived near the office of opposition PPM’s HQ even before the rally and tried to confiscate speakers and other materials used at the rally. They also arrested around 10 people from the rally including former MP Abdullah Rifaau who is also the registrar of DRP. 

Initially the opposition requested to lease carnival area to hold the rally but the government refused to lease that area and hence they decided to hold the rally in front of PPM’s HQ.
