Elections Commission of the Maldives has decided to officially register Maldives Reform Movement a party founded by former President Maumoon Abdul Gayyoom.

According to EC they will handover the registration form to the party officials on 25th of this month. The party held their inaugural session on 7th November and elected Maumoon as the interim president of the party. 

In addition they elected an interim executive council to govern the party. The party is registered under Culture Minister Yumna Maumoon. 

At the moment there are 9 registered parties in the Maldive. Most members are in ruling party MDP and the second most members are in opposition PPM.
