Home Minister Imran Abdullah has stated that the Vice President of the Deaths and Disappearances Commission told him that no police action is required with regard to the report published on Dr.Afrasheem’s murder.
Speaking at the parliament today, the minister stated that he met with officials from the Prosecutor General’s Office and members of the commission after the report was released. He said that the members of the commission told him that they have no specific assistance from the police at the time, he gave them 24 hours. Imran said that after 24 hours he met them and that they told him that, there is no room to arrest or prosecute anyone based on that report.
In addition he said that, till now the commission has not requested any assistance from the police and if they need it, the police will readily provide it. However speaker of the parliament and some other MDP members keep saying that some people will be prosecuted based on the report.
Jammiyathuh Salaf, an Islamic organization mentioned in this report stated that they welcome any investigations by the concerned authorities.
