A man who played a key role in demolishing the Babri Masjid of India has reverted to Islam and has built 90 mosques since then.

He is the man who climbed the minaret of the mosque and encouraged others to follow him. The mosque was demolished on 6th December 1992.

Balbeer Singh reverted to Islam just 6 months after the event in June 1993. Since then he has changed his name to Mohammed Amir. Amir said that he took part in the act because he believed in the lies fed by Hindi extremists. He said that he built 90 mosques to ask for forgiveness form Allah.

Amir said that after taking part on the events of that day he immediately felt that he did something wrong and he left on a journey to escape from that feeling. He said that he became interested in Islam due to the way he was treated by an Islamic scholar he met on the journey despite knowing what he did.
