Commissioner of Police Mohammed Hameed stated that in 2017, Maldives Police Service worked with authorities from 5 other countries to foil a huge terror attack plan.

According to the CP, the terrorists in Maldives prepared a bomb in the Maldives and they were under the orders from the ISIS leadership. The plan was to blast the bomb in midair on a plane. The CP said that it was the largest counter terrorism operation conducted in the world in 2017.

He said that Maldivians worked with 5 agencies from 5 different countries. However he did not reveal any further details of the case.
