Chinese Ambassador to the Maldives H.E Zhang Lizhong has stated that the repeated claim of “grab land in Maldives” is a headache and that he takes it seriously. He said that he doesn’t want his friends in Maldives to feel unhappy towards China.

He further said that he has searched for evidence of this “land grab” claim but it seems like a mission impossible and asked the public for clues as a gift as a token of appreciation. 

Former President Nasheed has repeatedly claimed that China is grabbing lands in Maldives, but so far has provided no evidence to back this claim.
