Maldives Police Service has arrested a man for threatening High Court judge Shujaau Usmaan.

Maldives Police Service arrested a 50 year old Maldivian from Maafushi with a court warrant. The man threatened the judge while he was on a holiday in Maafushi. 

The High Court released a statement condemning the threats by the man and called the police service and relevant authorities to take swift action regarding the matter. This is the second time Shujaau Usman was given a death threat. Previously while he was working at Addu City’s branch of the High Court, he was threatened and thus relocated to the capital. Since 2017 he is the chief judge of the High Court.
