Information Commissioner Hussain Fiyaz Moosa has stated that the commission plans to give Right to Information awards to journalists starting from next year.

Speaking at a press conference held today the commissioner stated that, the commission will give awards to journalists who reveal information after obtaining it through state institutions. Till now, the commission was giving awards to institutions which discloses information in a transparent manner. 

Fiyaz stated that the journalists are an important partner of Article 29 of the constitution. 

The award will be given on 28th September, the national right to information day.
