Maldivian Democratic Party has decided to hold party primaries for local council election on 31st January.
The council election will be held on 4th April 2020. Hence, candidates who are interested in the party’s ticket must contest in the party’s primary. A statement by the party states that until 13th January, those interested in taking part in the primary can submit their application forms and on 7th January they will update the voter’s list.
They said that, by 15th January a final voters’ list will be publicized. Only party members who are in the party by the end of this year can contest and vote in the party primaries.
