Japan assists to develop a waste management system in Holhudhoo

The government of Japan has assisted to develop a waste management system in N.Holhudhoo.
An agreement was signed between the government of Japan and N.Holhudhoo today in an event held at the Home Ministry. Ambassador of Japan to the Maldives Yanai Keiko signed on behalf of Japan while President of Holhudhoo council signed on behalf of Holhudhoo council
The incinerator that will be used at the waste management plant will be donated under the Center for Global Partnership Grant of Japan. The project costs 301,755 dollars.
This incinerator will be the first of it kind in the Maldives as it will not emit any smoke. It can incinerate various types of waste including plastic, organic waste and green waste.
Japanese government has been assisting Maldives in the CGP scheme since 1996.
