Number of divorces in Maldives has increased. According to statistics published by Department of Judicial Administration in 2019 a total of 5117 couples divorced. That is 14 divorce per day.

In 2018 the figure was at 3116, which is 9 divorces per day. Hence the rate has increased from 9 to 14. In 2019, 6509 couples married, which is 17 marriages per day. In 2018, the number of marriages was 5290. 

Hence last year, there were 17 marriages and 14 divorces on average. So based on this statistics it can be said that out of 17 marriages, 14 ended up in divorce.
