Chinese Ambassador to the Maldives H.E Zhang Lizhong has stated that he hopes to restart flights between China and Maldives as soon as possible. The Chinese Ambassador made this statement while speaking at a press conference held at the Chinese Embassy yesterday.

Flights between Maldives and China was suspended due to the outbreak of corona virus in China. The ambassador said that the outbreak is under control and that they are slowly recovering from the epidemic. 

He said that due to the suspension of flights, some of the infrastructure projects conducted by China in Maldives has also been halted. He said that the situation in China will be improved soon enough to restart flights between the two countries.

The Ambassador noted that even though there will be  a negative impact on the Maldivian economy due to this measure, he believes that it was a necessary measure.
