More than 100 tourists arrive in the Maldives

More than 100 tourists have arrived in the Maldives today after the Maldivian borders were opened to tourists today.

Borers were closed on 27th March due to the coronavirus pandemic. The first flight to land at Velana International Airport is a flight from Qatar Airways. 

According to the authorities more than 100 tourists arrived in the flight. This is a historic day for the tourism industry of the Maldives. It can be said that this is a new beginning. 

We have to be thankful to Allah as this will allow the economy to revive. Economy of the Madives is in a bad shape due to the covid-19 pandemic. Thousands lost their jobs and many people are in a really bad condition. With the reopening of the borders, economy will start recovering gradually. 

Speaking to the press today the acting tourism minister Fayyaz Ismail said that he does not believe that the borders will have to be closed again, but if the relevant authorities’ advices to do that they will do it.
