The Renovation of Fiyavathi Home for Vulnerable Children financed with Indian Grant Assistance inaugurated

A virtual ceremony to mark the completion of the Fiyavathi Home for Vulnerable Children in Hulhumalé was held today. This project was funded with a grant of 1.9 million Rufiyaa, under the Indian Grant Assistance of 106 million Rufiyaa. 

The ceremony was attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid, the High Commissioner of India to the Maldives Sunjay Sudhir, State Ministers of Gender, Family and Social Services, Aishath Rasheed and Zifleena Hassan.

Speaking at the event, Minister Shahid highlighted that the State has a moral and ethical responsibility to ensure that children in a position of socioeconomic vulnerability are given adequate care and attention, and that this project aims to address the aforementioned responsibility. Under this project, the Fiyavathi Home has been significantly renovated by procuring additional beds, constructing cupboards, painting interior and exterior walls, strengthening the functionality of the Home, thus providing a safe and conducive environment for nurturing the growth and development of the children.
