The Commonwealth Secretary-General, the Rt Hon. Patricia Scotland KC, paid a courtesy call on H.E. President Dr Mohamed Muizzu on Saturday afternoon at the President’s Office.
During the meeting, they discussed various topics, including climate change, climate financing, the COP28 summit, initiatives of the Commonwealth, digital education, and women's empowerment.
The Commonwealth Secretary-General stressed the importance of the Maldives continuing to champion small island states during the climate crisis.
During the call, President Dr Muizzu highlighted the government’s priorities for digitalisation and women's empowerment. He also stated the need for climate adaptation in the Maldives.
The Rt Hon. Patricia congratulated the President on his commencement of office and stated that the Commonwealth would support the Maldives by all means possible.
