An agreement has been signed between Maldives Correctional Services and National Centre for the Holy Quran on teaching proper recitation of Quran to inmates in the country’s jails.
At the signing held at King Salman Mosque, Commissioner of Prisons Hassan Zareer signed for MCS while Minister of State for Islamic Affairs Abdullah Saudhaan represented National Centre for the Holy Quran.
Under the two-year agreement, National Centre for the Holy Quran will facilitate teachers, who would, as per government regulations, teach inmates at the country’s prisons, to read Quran with proper intonations.
The teachers, to be provided for an agreed salary will also help interested inmates to commit the Holy Quran to heart.
In addition to conducting the prison classes, the teachers will also draw-up the Syllabuses for the program, based on the educational standard of minors at Detention Centres, and will also help to formulate progress and evaluation criteria.
