State Electric Company STELCO says that Electricity Bill for the month of May is seen to be high as a discount was offered for the previous month of April.

In a public statement STELCO said that even though May month’s bill was prepared in the reduced tariff rate, for some customers that bill exceeds that of April month’s bill due to the fact that a special discount was offered for April month’s bill in connection with Ramadan. STELCO says the change to the tariff rate will be clear when 3 bills without discount are compared.

Likewise, STELCO is asking customers to compare bill for December 2024 or January 2025 with a bill prepared in the reduced tariff rate, to see the difference in charges.

And STELCO offers assurances that all future bills will be prepared in the reduced tariff rate.

President Dr Mohamed Muizz reduced electricity tariff rates as a large number of people had been complaining of unusually high 

power bills. And the authorities are expecting to see a satisfactory results soon.
