The Japanese government has provided a grant aide worth 194 million Japanes Yen to Maldives

The Japanese government has announced a grant aide worth 194 million Japanes Yen (1.3 Million US Dollars)to Maldives . The assistance will be provided through the Project for Human Resource Development Scholarship (JDS) Program.

An exchange of Notes on the grant aide was signed at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Wednesday Morning. Under the JDS Program, six scholarship opportunities will be opened for Maldivian students. 

At the signing, Maldivian government was represented by Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Sherina Abdul Samad, and Japanese Ambassador to Maldives Ishigami Rumiko signed on behalf of the Japanese government.

The target of the scholarship program is to train Maldivian youth to be able to draw-up and execute social and economic development policies in the future. Hence the students selected will have the opportunity to pursue Master’s Degree Programs at top level Japanese universities.

The Japanese government has been granting the assistance since 2020. 

These assistance would boost the friendly ties between Maldives and Japan , allowing Maldivian youth to pursue higher studies and contribute to nation building . 

Wednesday’s signing was also attended by the State Minister at the Ministry of Higher Education ,Labor and Skills Development.
