Hulhumale’ Hospital has opened an opportunity for medical internship for medical graduates. The opportunity allows 15 aspiring medical students to gain clinical experience at the hospital. Interested applicants have until July 8th to send in their application.

Eligibility criteria for applicants include, an MBBS completion certificate from a recognized medical college or University, a provisional medical registration certificate from the Maldives Medical and Dental Council, and having no police record within the past five years.

The hospital says priority will be given to the period since completion of the MBBS course and the order applications are received, if more than 15 applications are received. 

All medical students who complete studies have to attend a one-year medical internship program before they can join long term service.

The government is expanding internship opportunities for Maldivian medical graduates. Previously MBBS graduates can only complete internship at the main hospital IGMH. However new placements have since been opened at the main private hospital ADK, at Addu Equatorial Hospital and most recently at Hulhumale’ hospital. This marks a significant step towards widening training opportunities for doctors while being at home.
