Talks have been held on further strengthening trade and investment ties between India and Maldives. Minister of Economic Development and Trade Mohamed Saeed met India’s commerce Secretary Sunil Barthwal Thursday to discuss ongoing initiatives aimed at further deepening trade and investment ties between the two nations.

Minister Saeed, writing on X said talks were centered on facilitating further opportunities for economic benefits, as well as further deepening trade and investment ties between the two nations.

Maldives India Business Forums were held earlier in three Indian Cities to offer details about investment opportunities in the Maldives.

India is a major development partner of Maldives, as well as makes a high contribution towards human resource development in the Maldives. 

Some of the major India assisted development projects now ongoing include Thilamale bridge project, and Hanimaadhoo International Airport project.

India also offers major financial assistance, the latest such contribution being a 400 million currency swap facility.
