Former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom has said that there are a people in Maldives who are actively trying to spread other religions in Maldives.

Former President Gayoom made this remark speaking at the PPM meeting held at SHE building last night.

He said that these people are trying to spread this irreligiousness to give the right of apostasy to other religions to people of Maldives.

“As you know there are a people who are trying to bring people out of the religion into other religions. In addition to this another group is trying to spread ideologies which go against our religion and nationalism,” he said.

Gayoom underscored the importance of protecting the Islamic unity of Maldives by fostering correct moral values in the society.
