PSM launches “YES” TV channel

Public Service Media (PSM) has launched a TV channel aimed at youth, entertainment and sports.
The channel was launched by President Abdullah Yameen Abdul Qayyoom in a ceremony held tonight in Dharubaaruge.
The channel will be run by Youth Ministry and PSM and was formed as part of the legal mandate on the Youth Ministry.
Speaking in the ceremony, Youth and Sports Minister Zuhoor said the letters in “YES” could be interpreted in many ways.
“Y is youth, E is economics and entertainment. S is not just sports, it is also social service,” he said.
Minister Zuhoor remarked that the Ministry had collaborated with PSM due to these factors.
PSM Chairman Ibrahim Manik said the endeavor required the collaboration of many employees, adding that this cost cannot be borne by a private party. Manik further noted the channel will focus on all areas of the country and will give an immense platform for youth.
