MVR 3 million as incentives for Ramadan

Commissioner of Police Ahmed Areef has revealed that the Polco has begun to distribute goods worth MVR 3 million as incentives for Ramadan and that these will be distributed equally among every officer and employee.
He made the statement, speaking in the opening ceremony of the canteen and restaurant in Iskandhar Koshi.
CP Areef said Polco shares will earn the shareholders MVR 34 per share this year and that this had been distributed as incentives for Ramadan.
The CP stressed that the service personnel worked in challenging conditions, in the interest of national goals, and as such should be granted easy access to a calming environment, which can be enjoyed with their families.
He said the idea of running a restaurant had been in the plans and that this had become a reality under the Government’s initiative to improve the service. CP thanked President Abdullah Yameen and Home Minister Umar Naseer for their assistance in the initiative. He also noted the role played by the Police Executive team in providing a better welfare package to the families.
CP Areef said this was an added incentive for Police officers to remain in service.
Speaking in the ceremony Polco Managing Director Assistant Commissioner of Police Abdul Mannaan Yoosuf said with the opening of the restaurant, Polco board had passed to further expand the business mandate of the organization.
Police Welfare Fund was formally launched last night as well. The Fund was inaugurated by Commissioner of Police Ahmed Areef. Polco donated a MVR 1 million cheque to the Fund, handed over to the CP by Polco Vice Chairperson Assisant Commissioner of Police Ali Shujau.
Finance Minister Abdullah Jihad, Home Minister Umar Naseer, Tourism Minister Moosa Zameer, Economic Minister Mohamed Saeed, Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr. Ahmed Ziyad Baqir, Commissioner of Police Ahmed Areef, Deputy Commissioner of Police Ahmed Saudee, Members of Police Executive Board, senior officers of the Service, Board members of Polco and Polwec and officers attended last night’s ceremony.
Polatte will be opened from 7.30 am to midnight daily. The restaurant will serve officers, their families and friends and is a restaurant up to modern standards.
