Maldives imposes travel restrictions to and from countries heavily affected by the Ebola Virus Disease

The Government of Maldives has decided not to issue on-arrival visas to travellers arriving from countries heavily affected by Ebola virus disease as part of the ongoing preparedness and precautions against this disease.
The countries listed by WHO as those heavily affected by Ebola Virus Disease are Liberia, Sierra Leone, and Guinea, in West Africa. The newly imposed measure will be subject to the following;-
Travellers arriving from the three countries with widespread and intense transmission of Ebola Virus disease will not be issued on- arrival visa
Third country nationals arriving to Maldives who have visited either Liberia, Sierra Leone, or Guinea will not be issued on-arrival visa till after 21 days have elapsed since their travel to any of these countries.
Maldivian nationals are advised against any travel to Liberia, Sierra Leone, and Guinea.
On 27 August 2014 the Maldives Government issued travel advises to all Maldivian nationals advising against any travel to Liberia, Sierra Leone, Guinea, Nigeria and the Democratic Republic of Congo due to the Ebola Virus Disease in these countries. The newly introduced travel ban will also be subjected to all Maldivians who are arriving from the three countries which are heavily affected. The incoming will be isolated for 21 days arriving directly or after visiting any of these countries.
The Government of Maldives has taken these decisions based on the need to protect the Maldives from the disease, and to assure both nationals and tourists of the seriousness with which the matter is being taken by the authorities. It should also be noted that travel between these countries and Maldives is quite insignificant.
