Bloomberg has reported that Bain Capital LP is planning to purchase Trans Maldivian Airways from Blackstone Group.
According to Bloomberg, Bain Capital will collaborate with Chinese conglomerate Tempus Group Co. Bloomberg did not name any sources, but they quoted people who are familiar with the matter. The consortium has been discussing a valuation of about 500 million dollars however they are still discussing about an exact figure. Furthermore, Blackstone is also in talks with other interested parties regarding the sale of TMA.
TMA is the largest seaplane fleet in the world and they transport tourists from the International Airport of Maldives to various tourist resorts located across the country.
According to sources, Blackstone hopes to finalize the deal by the end of this year.
