Foreign Ministry of the Maldives has revealed that Foreign Minister Dr.Mohammed Asim will be visiting India from 10th to 12th of January as a special envoy of President Yameen.
During the visit Dr.Asim will meet Indian PM Modi and Indian Foreign Secretary Sushma Swaraj.
Meanwhile, Indian newspapers are continuously publishing articles that will undermine the relations between the two countries. President Yameen has asked Maldivian media to refrain from writing any content that will disrupt the relations between the two countries. He also said that India is the closest ally of Maldives.
Indian newspapers started expressing concern when Maldives signed a free trade agreement with China. Maldivian officials stated that India also has the opportunity to sign a free trade agreement with Maldives.
