The 12 parliament members whose seats have been declared vacant by the Elections Commission has requested to meet with Supreme Court judges.
Six of these members went to the Supreme Court today to get an appointment to meet with the judges. Former MP of Villingili constituency Saud Hussein said that, they want a legal remedy to the cases they filed regarding the matter. Saud said that the Supreme Court officials told them that they will call once an appointment is set.
Saud said that if the Supreme Court fails to provide a solution they will start direct action, but said that he hopes the judges will provide a solution. He said that the people of their constituencies are also worried because of this.
The members are also saying that the Elections Commission is refusing to give them a clear answer when they inquired about the status of their parliamentary membership.
