EU delegation visiting Maldives at the moment, has met with Foreign Minister Dr.Mohammed Asim.
According to the foreign ministry the minister met with the delegation and held discussions on further strengthening the relations between the two nations. In addition they discussed about how Maldives and EU can work together on issues like climate change and terrorism. Furthermore they talked about the political situation in Maldives, including the presidential elections that is going to be held this year.
EU delegation will also meet Environment Minister Thoriq Ibrahim, Home Minister Azleen Ahmed, Fisheries Minister Mohammed Shainee, Defense Minister Adam Shareef Ibrahim, Attorney General Mohammed Anil and Speaker of the Parliament Abdullah Maseeh. They have already met with some opposition politicians like former President Maumoon Abdul Gayyoom as well.
The EU delegation is headed by Paula Pampaloni, the director of the European External Actions Services for South Asian and Pacific. In addition, Caroline Vinnet the head of the External Actions Services and Tan Laai Magoo the EU Ambassador to Maldives are also in the delegation.
