Saudi government provides 18 teachers this year – Arabic language taught in 65 schools !

Government of Saudi Arabia has provided 18 teachers to teach Arabic in Maldives.

Speaking at a press conference held at Education Ministry, Education Minister Dr.Aishath Shiham said that in addition to two schools in Addu and Kulhudhuhfushi that are run on Arabic medium, Arabic language is taught in 65 schools across the country. She said that this is a huge achievement.

Speaking at the press, state minister Dr.Abdullah Nazeer said that Arabic language was first taught in 2014 and that it started with 14 schools. He said that now the figure has increased to 65 and that shows the effort of the government to spread Arabic and Islamic education in the Maldives.

In addition he said that, next year Arabic will be taught in 15 new schools and the target is to teach Arabic in all schools of Maldives. He said that at the moment there are 36 teachers sent by Saudi Arabia in the Maldives. He said that in addition to Saudi Arabia, government of Egypt and Al-Azhar University of Egypt also provides teachers.
