Deputy Leader of JP, Abdullah Riyaz have said that it is worrying that decisions that can only be made by the Supreme Court are being made by other institutions.
He made this statement after submitting a letter to the Supreme Court regarding the dismissal of some parliament members by Elections Commission even though the constitution says that only the Supreme Court can unseat a parliament member.
The letter was sent to the Supreme Court on behalf of the four opposition leaders. They requested the Supreme Court to make a clear decision regarding the 12 MPs who have been unseated by the Elections Commission.
The previous statement issued by the Supreme Court regarding the case was very vague and the way the opposition and the government interpret the statement is different. According to the government, the parliament members lost their seats, meanwhile according to the opposition, the MPs did not lose their seats.
