Chief Superintendent of Police Ahmed Shifan have said that Maldives is too peaceful for the police to maintain security at school. He said that however, police will increase the security of premises of schools, but they will not be present all the time.

He said that police are always active during the beginning of the school session and the ending and that they are not there only to maintain traffic. He said that the two incidents at Thaajuhdheen School and Lilly Magu are unrelated and that there is no fear of an additional incident.

He said that these incidents occurred not due to problems in the school environment and that there is no fear among students and teachers.
