Former President Maumoon Abdul Gayyoom have said that he will not create a new political party.

He stated that he formed two parties, and now he does not intend to form another. He said that he wants PPM to be administered properly. He also said that he does not have to be the president of PPM, and that he will be happy if the party is administered in the right manner, no matter who the leader is.

In addition, he said that the president of the party and the council of the party was elected for 5 years and that period has ended now. He said that there is nothing he can do to solve that problem, but said that he sent a letter to the Elections Commission regarding the problem.

Furthermore he said that the majority of PPM members are with him and hence he will talk with the members to see what he can do about the matter.
