Leader of JP, Qasim Ibrahim have said that the situation of the country is worsening and that everyone should work together to save the country from oppression. He said this in a statement he sent to the opposition rally last night.
“The people of Maldives are facing a difficult situation. Everyone should work hard to save the country from an oppressive leader” said Qasim
“State institution should do extra work to say what is right and to ensure the rights of the citizens. The people of Maldives are experiencing oppression at a level they have never experienced before” said Qasim.
Qasim said that the country can be saved from this situation when the army, police and the judges abide by their oath of office. In addition, he said that even on 1st May 2015, the people of Maldives showed that they will not stay silent and let government do unconstitutional acts and even now the people are showing that they will not tolerate that kind of behavior.
Qasim said that the president of AP, Imran Abdullah was the hero of that day. “The people are proud of him because he remains steadfast even today like he was on that day” said Qasim.
Qasim said that Imran’s trial was conducted without considering many basic things and today it has been revealed that senior government officials colluded to sentence Imran. He said that, on that day the people worked that day because they could not tolerate the oppression.
In addition, Qasim begged the Supreme Court to review Sheikh Imran’s case with the new found evidence. He also thanked everyone who took part in the May Day protest.
