The 69th Republic Day of India has been celebrated in the Maldives last night.
The ceremony held to mark the republic day was attended by senior government officials, officials of political parties and Indians living in the Maldives. The chief guest of the ceremony was Health Minister Abdullah Nazim Ibrahim.
Nazim said that India comes to the assistance of Maldives whenever it is needed. He said that Maldives benefits from the Indians serving in the health, education and the tourism sector. Nazim said that India was able to establish a republican system due to the sacrifices made by Indian leaders.
Speaking at the ceremony, Indian Ambassador to Maldives Akhilesh Mishra said that India is developing at a fast rate. He said that the GDP growth rate of India will reach 7.4 and India will become the fastest developing economy of the world.
Mishra said that India is developing the nation not targeting the 1 billion Indians but targeting the whole world. “By 2030. 25% of all the professionals in the world will be Indians” said the ambassador.
In addition he said that India is developing at a fast pace because of the New India policy of PM Modi.
