SG of JP Ahmed Sameer said that the legal affairs minister at the President’s Office Azima Shukoor cannot influence Maldives Police Service and that she is doing it illegally.
Sameer said that today the security forces do not have to protect the president, but protect the constitution.

He said that hence their responsibility should be implementing the Supreme Court’s verdict.

In addition he said that Maldives Correctional Service and Maldives Police Service are under the Home Ministry and hence if they fail to implement the Supreme Court verdict then the Home Minister should take responsibility.

He said that upholding the laws means acting in accordance with the laws and if not the state will become weak.
