Attorney General of the Maldives Mohamed Anil have said that the government will imeplement the Supreme Court verdict through due process.

Speaking at a press conference held today he said that some of the people ordered to free have criminal investigations against them. He said that they talked with the Chief Justice regarding the matter and that the Chief Justice advised to follow due process.

He said that PG and the police are working together and once that work is done they will discuss with the Chief Justice and make a decision. However, no official authority have stated that there are ongoing investigations on AP Leader Imran, JP Leader Qasim and former President Nasheed.

Secretary General of JP Ahmed Sameer said that he does not believe what Anil said. “The verdict was issued with the consensus of the 5 judges. Hence I do not believe that the Chief Justice will make decisions on his own” said Sameer.

Sameer said that the Supreme Court verdict was very clear and he does not believe that the Chief Justice will act alone.
