Australian ambassador to Maldives Brice Hutchson has called the government of Maldives to implement the Supreme Court order asking to free political prisoners.
He tweeted today saying that the Supreme Court order was a success to the democracy of Maldives. He said that it is important that all the relevant authorities of Maldives respect the court order and implement it.
In addition, British ambassador to Maldives James Dauris also tweeted asking to implement the court order. Meanwhile the external affairs ministry of India also issued a statement asking the government to implement the court verdict.
However, opposition members are saying that the government shows no sign that they intend to implement the court verdict. However AG Anil said that the government will implement the verdict through due process.
The Supreme Court verdict was issued with the consensus of the full bench and they also ordered the PG to investigate if anyone tries to delay implementing the court verdict.
