Former President Maumoon has thanked the international community for showing their support to the Supreme Court verdict which ordered to free politicians and to reinstate the 12 parliament members.
Maumoon tweeted tonight thanking UN, EU, Amnesty International, Indian PM Modi, British ambassador James Dauris, Australian Ambassador Brice Hutchson, and Canadian ambassador David Mckinon.
He tweeted thanking them for calling to free political prisoners and asking the government of Maldives to uphold democratic values.
Lawyers and families of the people who were acquitted by the Supreme Court are raising concerns because the government has still not freed them. However Police announced that they are following due process and will free them after consulting the PG and AG.
