Former Chief Justice Ahmed Faaiz have said that the Attorney General and Prosecutor General have no role in implementing court orders.

He posted on his Facebook saying that the Supreme Court verdict must be implemented. He said that according to the law the order must be implemented by the relevant authorities and that implementing it is the due process.

Faaiz made this statement during a time police announced that they are planning to implement the Supreme Court order with the consultation from AG and PG.

The Supreme Court issues a verdict on Thursday night ordering to free 9 people including political leaders and ordered to reinstate the 12 MPs who were unseated by the Elections Commission previously.

Lawyers and families of the people who were acquitted by the Supreme Court are raising concerns because the government has still not freed them. However Police announced that they are following due process and will free them after consulting the PG and AG.
