Maldives Police Service has tweeted that they tried to question former President Maumoon at his residence, regarding an ongoing investigation. They said that however Maumoon stated that he could not meet at that time and told police officers that he will call later.

Mahfooz a member of Maumoon’s legal team said that it is not clear what the investigation is about and when that information is clear Maumoon will meet the police.

According to some sources, Police is trying to question Maumoon regarding the statements made by Zaidul Ameen former Male’ City councilor. He stated that Maumoon bribed Supreme Court Justice Ali Hameed.
