Opposition parties call to take action against Maldives

Parliament Members of the opposition parties have called the international community to take action against Maldivian government because government refused to implement the Supreme Court verdict.

The opposition parliamentarians issued a statement saying that President Yameen is ruling against the law and hence asked the international community to impose economic and diplomatic sanctions against the Maldives. The statement requested India, Sri Lanka, USA, EU and UK to take action against the Maldives.

The only opposition members who were not able to sign the agreement are Qasim Ibrahim, Faaris Maumoon, Ilham Ahmed, and Abdullah Sinaan. MP Naashid and Ibrahim Shareef also did not sign the agreement because they are not in Male’.
