Maldives has announced state of emergency for 15 days.
Minister of Legal Affairs Azima Shukoor announced the statement declaring the state of emergency. Attorney General Anil accompanied her during the announcement.
The articles of the constitution that were suspended are article 24, 29, 31, 32, 43, 44, 45, 46, 47, 49, 50, 58, 65, 99, 100, 101, 113, 145 and 228. Also the criminal procedures act and article 14 and 12 of the judicial legislation act was also suspended.
